Our youth groups offer a dedicated space for young people (10 years and up) diagnosed with intellectual development disabilities, to receive emotional support and obtain educational topics that support their development. The groups offer processes and actions that engage communication at their level.
It is common for kids who have Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (IDD) to feel frustrated, sad, anxious or embarrassed. Our programs focus on communication strategies to facilitate emotion expression, and dialog, of the participants . The participant is able to share via visuals, art, and verbal dialog their emotions to allow our professional team provide the needed support. Also, the students find a network and build community to support one another.
Young adults diagnosed with intellectual disabilities benefit from understanding communication skills, social interaction, interest personal evaluation and abilities. Our programs offers a peer-to-peer network to strengthen communication among IDD children.
